HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

The answer to that question can be roughly estimated over the phone with a few questions and assumptions. For an accurate costing we will visit your premises for free and discuss your options.

"Good security doesn't cost it pays"

WHAT ABOUT WIRELESS SYSTEMS?

Yes can do. However the cameras still need power, so often it is just as cost effective to have the cabling for the video and the power together. You then can't have any WiFi problems.

CAN I CHECK MY CAMERAS FROM MY PHONE OR iPAD?

Yes -and just in case anyone says otherwise- you DO NOT need a static IP address

CAN I CHECK HISTORY ON MY PHONE OR TABLET?

Yes our systems will run on a couple of free Apps which allow you to view any historical events still in your recorder

WHAT IS A PIXEL?

Wikipedia tells us a pixel is the smallest element of a picture represented on a screen. Therefore, generally speaking, the more pixels the greater the clarity

WILL IMAGES BE GOOD ENOUGH TO IDENTIFY PEOPLE?

You need a certain number of pixels per meter viewed to be able to identify people or number plates. A low quality analogue camera two meters away from the subject will do that. However, the further away from the subject the camera is the fewer pixels per meter there are. High definition cameras with more pixels can therefore see clearer further.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A POWER CUT?

The same way you can allow for power cuts with UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) systems for your computers applies to CCTV systems. If you don't have a UPS our systems can still cope and will reboot and recommence operating once the power is restored. You don't have to re-input all the settings. Hopefully it wasn't intruders who disconnected the power!

CAN AN EMPLOYER INSTALL CAMERAS IN THE WORKPLACE?

Yes. An employer can install cameras in the workplace, and they can be secret pinhole types. An employer can not install them in toilets or changing rooms, nor can an employer record audio in the workplace. Just make sure the boss can't lip read before you call him/her names.

CAN CAMERAS SEE AT NIGHT?

Yes, some better than others. While it is great if the viewed area can be lit at night to give the camera the best operating conditions it is not always possible, or within budget. Most outdoor cameras have Infra Red LEDS which give the camera IR light to see. However it only gives a black and white picture which reduces the ability to identify people and things.

DO DIFFERENT STYLES OF CAMERAS INDICATE DIFFERENT ABILITIES OR QUALITY?

All our cameras have SONY internals. Whether they are Dome or Bullet style they all have the same internals and specifications.Sometimes the position dictates what style needs to be used. In most of our installations we use the Dome style for asthetics and the reduced chance of vandalism. However, some specialist cameras, say with very large zoom lenses will only fit in a bullet style camera.

CAN MY EXISTING CCTV BE UPGRADED TO HIGH DEFINITION?

Yes. Some or all of your existing cameras can be upgraded to HD and the recorder changed to a HD version. You do not have to change all your cameras if you don't want to and you shouldn't need to rewire. Whatever wiring is being used on your exiting cameras should be OK for the new HD models.

DO I NEED TO REWIRE FOR HIGH DEFINITION?

NO. The latest HD systems can use your existing wiring, saving the labour intensive (costly) part of the installation.

THE MORE MEGAPIXELS THE BETTER?

Generally yes. But we think two megapixel (2 million pixels) are as high as you need to go in most circumstances. One single camera can be shown on a FULL HD 50" TV with a clear picture. If you need more than that you must have special circumstances, or poor eyesight. Also unless there is fibre at both ends the ISPs don't give customers much upload speed so it limits the amount of data that can be transmitted. Our models are two megapixel because one megapixel is 'only' twice as good as our best analogue cameras whereas two megapixel is four times better.

MY PHONE HAS AN 8 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA, SO 2 MEGAPIXEL DOESN'T SEEM THAT GOOD?

A camera taking a still 8 megapixel picture is very different from a camera streaming video. A two megapixel camera can stream 8 megabits of data a second. The transmission you are viewing on your Full HD TV is 2 megapixel (1080P).

WHAT ARE CVI, TVI and AHD HIGH DEFINITION SYSTEMS

These are HD analogue sytems put on the market since January 2014. They were developed as a cheaper way to upgrade existing CCTV systems to HD. They have become very popular due to their cheapness, ease of installation and quality. We have adopted the latest AHD system.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND HD IP CAMERAS OR AHD CAMERAS.

HD IP cameras were the only option if you wanted High Definition. IP cameras can solve a lot of installation problems in certain circumstances, and there are lots of clever ways they can be set up. However, with the advent of Analogue HD in January 2014 I doubt we will be installing many HD IP camera systems in the future.
